This weight-loss diet helped a young David Duval lose 40 pounds

Using this Regimen, Young David Duval was able to Shed 40 Pounds.

It's simple to take for granted with time, but it's important to remember how talented David Duval was.

Duval won the Tour Championship in 1997, the Players Championship in 1999, and the Open Championship in 2001 over the four-year period between 1997 and 2001. He also placed in the top 10 in 10 of the 15 major tournaments. He shot 59 along the way and briefly replaced Tiger Woods as the number-one player in the world.

At the beginning of his adventure, Duval weighed 226 pounds. A few years later, he weighed 180 pounds, had shed "40 pounds and four notches on my belt," and had a body fat percentage of just 8%.

Duval claims that changing bad habits was the first step in his weight-loss journey and that of any golfer. He claims that his cycle of poor eating practices began on the mini-tours. According to what he wrote, he would go for hours without eating before bingeing when he felt the most ravenous:

He started by altering how he ate rather than what he ate (we'll get to that).

Duval claims in the article that he attempts to have smaller meals "every three hours" to prevent himself from being too hungry and prone to overeating. He notes that while this isn't always simple when you're on the go or busy, he advises packing some snacks in advance. Protein bars and "turkey sandwiches on wheat bread" are his go-to snacks.

Duval essentially changed his diet to one strong in protein. a straightforward diet consisting of "less starchy carbohydrates," "more protein," and "minimizing my fat consumption." According to him, a reasonable rule of thumb is to keep your daily intake of carbohydrates and high-fat meals to "no more than 10 to 15 percent," and a typical supper on this diet consists of "grilled pork chops, fresh-cut green beans, and a salad."

After completing these two steps, the last component is easy to obtain: commitment. According to Duval, it won't always be simple, and you don't want to push yourself too far to the point of exhaustion. However, continuous, steady work will bear fruit. Simply said, believe it.
