What is fit or fitness?.

Start Your Child's Fitness Habits Early by Getting in Shape With 6!

Children as young as two years old can follow standards for physical activity. Each day, experts advise 60 minutes of unscheduled, physically active leisure time and 30 minutes of planned, adult-led physical exercise.

Parents may bring their young children to Wilmington's Fit for Fun Center, which is a part of Wilmington Parks and Recreation. "You may bring your youngster to this place to play. It's unique since it's solely for children aged six months to five," said Victoria Carrai, the Fit For Fun Center's recreation supervisor.

There is a sizable playroom with room for kids to run about and a safety mat on the floor. "This is a secure space for them to be active thanks to the soft toys and equipment in here. They can climb, move around, dance, and generally get active, according to Carrai.

This is a location where parents may connect with their children; it is not a place where you drop your kids off and go. Hula hoops, slides, throwable balls, and tunnels to crawl through are all present. There are many options available, and everything your child undertakes can benefit both their physical and mental development.

"Everything saves the art area and the tiny toy room where they're putting puzzles together, they're doing more of the broader actions, pushing objects and climbing up. They are utilizing their fine motor and dexterity skills, according to Carrai.

The excitement moves outside with water play and sensory activities on Fridays during the summer. Children are allowed to play in the sprinklers. There is a hose setup in the shape of a splash pad, according to Carrai.

The Fit for Fun Center's administrators hope that your child's attendance will be the beginning of many years of play and exercise. "They are developing social skills, playing, and being active as they ideally transition into adulthood. Hopefully growing up to be healthy, content people," added Carrai.

The fee is $5 (per child/per session), although adults and kids over 10 can attend for free as long as they help the parent with the younger kids.

Additionally, memberships and tickets for several visits are offered.
